How to Help

However you choose to get involved, your support gives Tanzania’s children safe homes, education, healthcare, and hope.

Get Involved

Fundraise for Tír na nÓg

Fundraising is one of the most valuable ways you can support Tír na nÓg. As a charity, we rely entirely on the generosity of supporters, donors, and fundraisers to continue providing education, healthcare, accommodation, and opportunities for the children and young people in our care. Whether you raise €50 or €5,000, every contribution makes a real difference.

Climb Mount Kilimanjaro

One of the most popular fundraising challenges undertaken by our supporters is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. While Tír na nÓg does not organise climbs directly, we can guide you towards reputable trekking companies that have supported previous fundraisers.

Fundraising Ideas

Host a coffee morning, quiz night, or trad session. Take on a sponsored walk, run, swim, or cycle. Celebrate a birthday or wedding by asking for donations instead of gifts. Organise a workplace fundraising day, a Christmas Jumper Day, or even chop your hair for charity.

Online Fundraising

We are registered on GoFundMe, iDonate, and Benevity Causes. You can find us on each platform under Tír na nÓg Children’s Foundation. Our team is happy to support your fundraising, so please get in touch at tirnanogie@gmail.com.

Child Sponsorship

Sponsor a Child

The most meaningful way to get involved with Tír na nÓg is by sponsoring a child. Through our Child Sponsorship Programme, you help provide education, care, and opportunities for children from kindergarten right through to university or vocational training.

As Tír na nÓg receives no government funding, child sponsorship is one of our most important sources of income. Your support helps us provide quality education, healthcare, nutritious meals, and a safe and loving environment where children can thrive.

For just €25 per month, you can help transform a child’s future and give them the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Charitable Donation Scheme

Tax Efficient Giving

Did you know that your donation to Tír na nÓg could be worth up to 45% more at no extra cost to you? Through Ireland’s Charitable Donation Scheme, Tír na nÓg can reclaim tax on eligible donations of €250 or more made by Irish taxpayers in a calendar year. For example, if you donate €250 in a year, Tír na nÓg could receive an additional €112.33 from Revenue.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible if you are an Irish taxpayer, pay tax through PAYE, self-assessment, or joint assessment, and have donated a total of €250 or more to Tír na nÓg in a single tax year.

Safeguarding First

Volunteering and Visits

Due to the sensitive nature of our work and the vulnerability of the children in our care, Tír na nÓg Children’s Foundation does not operate a general volunteer programme. The wellbeing, safety, and stability of our children are our highest priorities, so we carefully manage all external visits to ensure that daily routines, education, and family life within the Children’s Village are not disrupted.

On occasion, we may facilitate short visits to our facilities for individuals who are already in Tanzania. Visits are limited to a maximum of two hours, must be arranged in advance, and only a limited number of visitors can be accommodated each year. If you are planning to visit Tanzania and would like to enquire, please contact us at tirnanogie@gmail.com.

Our on-site dental clinic operates in partnership with 3Dental Ireland. Due to the clinical nature of this work and the safeguarding requirements involved, volunteer opportunities within the dental clinic are only available to employees of 3Dental Ireland, who undergo a strict screening, selection, and interview process.
